Job Responsibilities
- Helps in conjunction with all other staff, ensures the security of client’s truck and property by applying protocols that are specific to their post.
- Completes diagnosis assigned equipment repair issues, accurately and completely.
- Prepares and passes on an accurate list of needed parts and repairs for review and authorization to Service Advisor.
- Secures current price quotes through the Parts Department if requested.
- Looks up and documents non-overlapping standard repair times (SRT).
- Communicates this information with the Advisor.
- Performs authorized repairs and adjustments in a consistent, high-quality, timely manner to a professional level.
- Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by customer.
- Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
- Endeavors to remain up to date on the latest technical information and service procedures.
- Understands and is fully capable of properly using all necessary test equipment and special service tools, pertaining to diagnosis and repair of appropriately assigned jobs.
- Manages repair strategy and vehicle downtime to effectively return downed equipment to productive service as soon as possible.
- Communicates findings, observations, and conclusions, to take adequate responsibility for their time investment on the job assignment and ensure stability.
- Takes adequate responsibility for time invested in job assignment and ensures salability.
- Performs all repairs within established standard repair times (SRTs).
- Aids the advisor in meeting deadlines and delivery of all promises made regarding assigned jobs and targets.
- Advises advisor of any complication immediately. Notify manager if necessary.
- Remains continuously aware of assigned workload while managing production time and repair promises.
- Ensures that repair order stories are kept up-to-date, accurate, and complete with concise descriptions, including cause of failure and work performed.
- Returns all shop tools and equipment promptly to assigned storage locations in clean, orderly, and usable condition.
- Attends all required service tech training sessions and Service Department meetings.
- Assists in instructing trainees as ordered by the Service Manager
- Knows, understands, and adheres to Dealership and Service Department policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Diagnostics any cause of malfunction and performs repair.
- Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
- Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
- Road tests vehicles when required.
- Supervises work of any apprentice technicians or mentee technicians assigned.
- Keeps shop area neat and clean.
- Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
- Safeguards information system assets by identifying abnormalities, reporting suspicious activity and/or content, and contributing to the resolve of cyber security problems.
- Performs other duties assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to effectively communicate with a positive outlook and attitude is a must.
- Valid Driver license and ability to be insured by Affinity (Class A & C)
- Two-year college or technical school or six months to one-year training related experience/training or equivalent combination of education/experience
Work Schedule And Travel
Due to the nature of our business, and the duties of the position in particular, the actual schedule you will be required to work will vary based upon many factors, including, but not limited to, the business needs of our Company, the schedules of our customers, the season of the year, etc. You may also need to travel out of State for meetings, training, conventions, etc. You will be reimbursed for travel expenses in accordance with Affinity Truck Center’s travel policy.
Physical Requirements
- Environment: Frequently works inside/outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures
- Occasional exposure to excessive loud noise
- Frequent Exposure to dust, gas, fumes, chemicals, etc.
- Lifting and carrying: Frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 90 pounds
- Bending, twisting, stooping, reaching: Must be capable of frequent twisting and bending down to pick up items from lower shelves, and reaching up for items stored at higher levels.
- Vision: Must have at least 20/40 acuity in each eye with or without correction.
- Hearing: Ability to perceive a “forced whisper” at a distance of 5 feet or less, with or without hearing aids.
- Mobility: Ability to enter and exit the vehicle safely and efficiently.
- Mobility: Capability to climb into and out of trucks, which may involve using steps or ladders. Must maintain three points of contact when entering and exiting trucks at all times.
- Dexterity in operating controls such as steering wheels, pedals, and gear shifts.
- Sitting: Frequent sitting while using a computer, operating a vehicle, operating a forklift, driving a golf cart, sitting at a desk, attending meetings, trainings, seminars, etc.
- Mobility: Walking: Regularly moving about on foot within the work area, which may involve navigating through tight spaces or uneven surfaces.
- Hand Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and arms for grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, reaching, typing, etc.
- Sitting: Frequent sitting while using a computer, operating a vehicle, operating a forklift, driving a golf cart, sitting at a desk, attending meetings, trainings, seminars, etc.
- Mobility: Standing: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a certain percentage of the workday, such as 50% or more.
- Mobility: Walking: Regularly moving about on foot within the work area, which may involve navigating through tight spaces or uneven surfaces.
