What You’ll Do:
- C Conduct on-the-road supervision, including regular ride-alongs and shadowing, to ensure driver performance meets service and safety standards.
- B Monitor and assess operator interactions and adherence to safety procedures, offering constructive feedback as necessary.
- D Develop and deliver training programs for new drivers, including initial, remedial, and refresher content.
- E Provide hands-on training in best practices, safety protocols, and service standards to align with Via and Citilink’s expectations
- F Conduct proper post-accident and post-incident procedures including acting as the Designated Employer Representative (DER) for DOT purposes.
- G Act as the primary point of contact for immediate operational issues, implementing solutions to resolve challenges promptly.
- H Service trips as necessary, especially in the case of stranded riders, breakdowns, or other service disruptions.
Who You Are:
- A Possess sound knowledge of the city and an excellent driving record.
- B Possess previous supervisory or management experience.
- C Able and excited to train paratransit operators.
- D Available to be scheduled as per the evolving needs of the role during all service hours and days.
- E Able to operate a wheelchair-accessible vehicle within standard safety guidelines to ensure public safety
- F Must be able to safely push and maneuver more than 400 pounds of weight, such as in assisting passengers in wheelchairs or handling heavy equipment
- G Able to bend down on one knee for extended periods of time to secure wheelchairs and other mobility aids
- H Patient, empathetic, and sensitive to the needs of people with disabilities
- I Able to deal effectively and courteously with all customers and the public
- J Hold a valid driver’s license.
- K Pass a drug screening, motor vehicle check, physical exam, and criminal background check.
- L At least 25 years old.
- M Able to apply in person at Via’s offices in the Fort Wayne area
