Service Sales Engineer
About the role
This position supports the service project manager by performing duties related to preparing customer proposals, surveying job sites, developing job cost estimates, and selling maintenance contracts. It also involves developing and maintaining customer relationships, communicating with field personnel, and resolving customer disputes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare customer proposals, including repairs, unit replacements, and maintenance contracts.
- Define scope, exclusions, and general conditions for proposals.
- Survey job sites and develop job cost estimates.
- Visit job sites or obtain information from field technicians to prepare job cost estimates and alternative solutions for customer problems.
- Obtain equipment pricing from appropriate vendors.
- Use multiple software packages to prepare estimates for various work including sheet metal, piping, and equipment/parts replacements.
- Prepare ductwork and piping takeoffs.
- Develop and maintain customer relationships.
- Sell maintenance contracts, understand their scope, and manage work orders.
- Communicate with field personnel to convey the scope of work and assist with problem-solving.
- Participate in pre-job meetings.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in HVAC or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in the HVAC Service Industry.
- Mid-level understanding of HVAC and control systems.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Technical knowledge in HVAC equipment, ductwork, and piping.
- Ability to maximize technician productivity.
- Good verbal, written, and listening skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
Qualifications
- Must be able to read construction drawings.
- Strong math and analytical skills.
- Ability to load calculate using third-party software.
- Good technical knowledge in HVAC equipment, ductwork, and piping.
- Understand the importance of maximizing technician productivity.
- Good verbal, written, listening, and computer skills.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Pay
$80,000.00 to $120,000.00 annually.
Schedule
Exempt position. Workdays are scheduled from Monday through Friday. Typically, work hours begin and end between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm as scheduled with the position's supervisor. Travel 25% of the time to and from the primary office to regional branch offices and customer job sites.
