Responsibilities
- Acknowledge, greet, and engage every guest entering the department
- Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, performance management (including discipline and separations), and productivity of service counter team members, bookkeepers, maintenance, fuel clerks, floral clerks (in non-floral stores), checkers, and sackers
- Coordinate scheduling with the Grocery Manager
- Assist with management of all Service Counter functions
- Conduct initial interviews for all departments and new team member orientations, including initial and ongoing paperwork and proper documentation
- Supervise and ensure proper checking and bagging techniques are used
- Ensure proper bookkeeping procedures are implemented
- Order supplies for front-end maintenance and coordinate needs with Grocery Manager
- Assist with performance evaluations and coaching sessions for all team members within the department, completing them in a timely manner
- Assist with general store information for Spirit and Spirit Too publications (in stores with no Talent Relations Manager)
- Assist with general public relations and "Spirit" initiatives within the store (in stores with no Talent Relations Manager)
- Assist with payroll and accounting procedures and implementation (in stores with no Talent Relations Manager)
- Delegate and assign trainers as necessary
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of the entire front-end, including check stands, floors, exterior front of store, parking lot, and more
- In stores without a Talent Relations Manager, serve as the designated human resource manager for hiring, training, and orientation objectives
- Safeguard, control, and monitor all store assets, ensuring policies and procedures are implemented for asset control
- Assist with overall guest and team member safety
- Greet and speak politely with every customer on premises
- Perform other duties as requested or required by management
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Required to work 40 hours per week, including multiple opening, closing, and day shifts depending on store needs
- Must maintain Certified Food Safety Manager certification
- Minimum of one year store experience
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time (up to 6 hours)
- Must be able to perform physical aspects of the job including bending, squatting, lifting, climbing, and walking
- Ability to function as a team member and get along with others
