About the Role

The Service Manager oversees and supports all phases of assigned projects across Alterman’s operational departments. The role focuses on ethical and professional conduct to maximize company profitability, group performance, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Manages smaller to mid-size projects or multiple customer accounts following Alterman’s procedures and policies, including:
    • Project set-up responsibility
    • Budgeting and job cost entry (material, labor, subcontracts, DJE)
    • Scheduling (construction, material, labor, cash)
    • Schedule of values (billing, cash flow)
    • Monitoring and preparing dispute/claim avoidance
    • Contract interpretation
    • Project meeting attendance
  • Maintains a proactive approach to project planning to maximize profit and performance.
  • Coordinates with the Purchasing department to procure and deliver materials to project sites in a timely manner.
  • Works closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to pre-plan and schedule resources for assigned projects.
  • Ensures effective communication with Alterman personnel, keeping them informed of relevant duties.
  • Focuses on long-term customer/account satisfaction and identifies opportunities to grow revenue.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Service (30% of role).

Requirements

  • Completion of Inside Wireman Apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Associate’s Degree in Business Management, Construction Management, or Construction Engineering.
  • 2 years of experience in a field supervisory position.
  • 10 years minimum of electrical field experience.

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Able to stay up to date on technical knowledge.

Work Environment

  • Office environment with frequent travel to job sites required.
  • Outdoor work environment with exposure to dust, humidity, heat, and cold.
  • Frequent exposure to stressful situations.
  • Routine overtime required.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent driving to and from job sites and customer offices.
  • Must be able to meet with customers, company departments, and job site employees.
  • Frequent walking on job sites, including uneven ground.
  • Must be able to work around moving equipment and machinery.
  • Able to sit, stand, bend, climb, crouch, stoop, and kneel.
  • Repetitive use of feet and hands, including grasping and fine finger dexterity.
  • Use of head and neck in a static position.
  • Occasionally lift 21-50 pounds with or without assistance.
