Service Dispatcher - Amarillo, TX
About the role
Working with the service manager. Responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable operation of the Service department. Oversees the work of the technicians. Acquires customer approvals, provides estimates, books and closes all service tickets considered as waiters. Assists with closing other repair orders as needed. Maintains product knowledge as the liaison between the Service Department and the customer.
Responsibilities
- Help in writing up repair orders and communicating with the drivers and owners in order to determine problems and solutions to their truck repair needs.
- Schedules and assigns jobs and work areas to employees according to their skills and knowledge, eliminating time lost between jobs.
- Keeps track of each customer job and advises the customer on the time of completion, cost of repairs, additional repairs, etc.
- Helps in determining the parts to be replaced and follows through with mechanics and Parts Department to ensure parts availability.
- Completes repair orders by getting mechanics' write-ups of repairs, ensuring parts are billed correctly, and adding necessary lines as the ticket progresses.
- Ensures each repair is coded correctly. Must be familiar with warranty of all parts of the truck and able to determine if a repair is warrantable.
- Must be at work at least thirty minutes before the mechanics start their shifts to analyze the work schedule.
- Willing to work additional hours as the workload and business require and perform other duties or functions as directed by management.
- Helps to ensure safe working conditions for all employees.
Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma required.
- Continuing education course in Management is also required.
- Minimum of 2 years in service management or lead mechanic role.
Qualifications
Must be familiar with warranty of all parts of the truck and able to determine if a repair is warrantable. Must be able to lift 50 pounds to the waist and 25 pounds to the shoulder.
