Responsibilities
- Collects soiled linens, resident personal items, and other washable articles from units and departments throughout the facility, including Grounds equipment materials, microfiber products, cubicle curtains, and beauty shop towels.
- Sorts, counts, weighs, folds, and prepares clean items for storage and distribution.
- Labels resident personal items and other articles as required to support accurate identification and return.
- Distributes clean laundry, linens, personal items, and other processed articles to all assigned units and departments.
- Maintains the appearance and serviceability of laundered articles through ironing, stain removal, and other appropriate finishing procedures.
- Mends torn or damaged articles when appropriate and reports items that require replacement.
- Uses weighing systems accurately and records weights as required.
- Operates, sanitizes, and performs routine care of washers, dryers, and related laundry equipment; promptly reports malfunctions or unsafe conditions.
- Adds and dispenses laundry chemicals in accordance with manufacturer instructions, departmental procedures, and established safety requirements.
- Performs routine cleaning and sanitation assignments within the Laundry Department and assigned work areas.
- Maintains logbooks, production records, equipment records, and other required departmental documentation accurately and timely.
- Monitors and maintains departmental supplies and product inventory and promptly reports replenishment needs.
- Answers telephone calls, documents service requests, and transfers linen-related calls to the Linen Department, as appropriate.
- Responds promptly and professionally to service concerns and seeks assistance or escalation when needed to support timely resolution.
- Reports all accidents, incidents, injuries, equipment concerns, and unsafe conditions promptly and in accordance with facility policy.
- Follows all applicable OSHA requirements, safety procedures, and safe work practices while performing assigned duties.
- Follows infection prevention and control requirements, including proper handling and separation of clean and soiled items, to maintain compliance and prevent cross-contamination.
- Attends and actively participates in required safety meetings, in-service programs, departmental meetings, and training sessions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned, consistent with the responsibilities of the position.
