Responsibilities
- Possess full knowledge of fine dining cuisines, including French and Continental as well as table-side service
- Possess knowledge of wine and wine pairings
- Report to work station as scheduled in proper uniform and ready to work
- Complete all side-work as directed by supervisor
- Keep work area neat, clean and free of safety hazards
- Greet guests in a friendly professional manner
- Take drink orders using suggestive-selling and up-selling techniques
- Serve drinks quickly and efficiently in the proper glass with the proper garnish
- Inform guests of daily specials, soup of the day, and make menu suggestions
- Take guest orders, repeat orders to guests
- Input order into micros and send order to kitchen
- Pick up order from kitchen and serve guests
- Check back with guests within two minutes to ensure they are enjoying their meal and if they have any other needs
- Pre-bus table as needed and ensure water glasses are always full
- Offer dessert and coffee using suggestive selling techniques
- Present check at the end of the meal and thank guests for dining with us
- Adequately complete required forms and handle cash transactions accurately and in a timely manner
- Other duties & responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled and successfully complete a GED program within six (6) months from start date as a condition of continued employment
- Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
- Extensive knowledge of food products, wine, liquor, and service techniques with a minimum of two (2) years of full service restaurant experience OR one (1) year of training in the Steakhouse
- Must be able to perform basic math skills; ability to read and write English
- Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds
- Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be able to deal effectively with diverse departments and have flexibility to work in an ever-changing environment
- Ability to adequately and successfully perform all aspects of this position
- Must possess a high level of maturity, dependability, and punctuality
- Demonstrated ability to communicate, in English, effectively both verbally and in writing, and understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats
- Must successfully complete Responsible Vendor Alcoholic Beverage Service and BASSET training
- Must successfully complete ServeSafe Sanitation training
- Must successfully pass job interview, including a guest service audition
- Willing to work odd and irregular hours
- Willing to travel and participate in training as recommended or required
- Must have an Occupational License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) pursuant to the Illinois Gaming Act and remain in good standing with the Illinois Gaming Board as a requirement for this position
Pay
$9.00–$13.00 per hour, with starting pay based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and skills.
