About the Role
The Server provides prompt and courteous service to ensure guests have an enjoyable experience. This position also maintains the cleanliness and guest-ready appearance of the outlet.
Prerequisites
- Character traits of honesty and trustworthiness are essential; potential associates must pass appropriate security clearances.
- One year of experience in a food and beverage position preferred.
- Experience with chain food and retail outlets is preferred.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform major life activities: standing, lifting, bending, learning, reading, concentrating, thinking, and communicating.
- Push or pull 60 pounds unassisted and lift and/or carry 30 pounds unassisted.
- Stand for eight hours, bend, stretch, and reach.
- See, hear, and communicate effectively with guests and associates.
Requirements
Knowledge
- Age requirements for serving alcoholic beverages.
- Menu items, preparation methods, and beverage choices.
- Standards of operation as required by the brand.
- Area shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions to assist guest inquiries.
- Daily hotel operations, including events, bulletin boards, and updates on procedures.
- Entire property, staff, services, hours of operation, room types, rates, and discounts.
Skills
- Service-minded, friendly, and professional behavior.
- Computer literate to operate the property management system: post charges, compute bills, collect payment, and make change.
- Sell, suggest, and serve quality food and beverage items as per standards.
Abilities
- Multitask while remaining guest-service centric.
- Effectively communicate with guests and associates.
- Resolve guest issues professionally while maintaining a hospitable attitude.
- Market and promote to increase exposure and sales.
- Work as a team member in cleaning, side work, food preparation, and storage.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the dining area and supplies in a guest-ready atmosphere.
- Process guest charges and gratuities in accordance with standards, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain safety and security practices, including thorough knowledge of emergency procedures.
- Ensure guests receive the highest quality product and service.
- Complete daily side work, including stocking.
- May be responsible for ordering, cost control, and maintaining the quality of items served or alerting management to issues.
- Maintain certification from a brand-approved responsible vendor training program.
- Perform other duties as assigned, provided the associate is capable.
Working Conditions
- Physical presence at the hotel is required; not conducive to telecommuting or remote work.
- Standing and walking for long periods while maintaining a friendly, professional image.
- May be required to work any day/shift, including weekends.
