About the Role

The Server provides prompt and courteous service to ensure guests have an enjoyable experience. This position also maintains the cleanliness and guest-ready appearance of the outlet.

Prerequisites

  • Character traits of honesty and trustworthiness are essential.
  • Must pass appropriate security clearances per company policy.
  • One year of experience in a food and beverage position preferred.
  • Experience with chain food and retail outlets preferred.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform major life activities: standing, lifting, bending, learning, reading, concentrating, thinking, and communicating.
  • Push or pull 60 pounds unassisted and lift and/or carry 30 pounds unassisted.
  • Stand for eight hours, bend, stretch, and reach.
  • See, hear, and communicate effectively with guests and associates.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain the dining area and supplies in a guest-ready atmosphere.
  • Process guest charges and gratuities according to standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain safety and security practices, including knowledge of emergency procedures.
  • Ensure guests receive the highest quality product and service.
  • Complete daily side work, including stocking.
  • May handle ordering, cost control, and quality maintenance of served items or report issues to management.
  • Maintain certification from a brand-approved responsible vendor training program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, provided the associate is capable.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge:
    • Age requirements for serving alcoholic beverages.
    • Menu items, preparation methods, and beverage choices.
    • Brand standards of operation.
    • Local shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions to assist guests.
    • Daily hotel operations, including events, bulletin boards, and procedural updates.
    • Entire property, including staff, services, hours, room types, rates, and discounts.
  • Skills:
    • Service-minded, friendly, and professional behavior.
    • Welcoming and personable demeanor.
    • Computer literacy to operate the property management system (post charges, compute bills, collect payments, make change).
    • Ability to sell, suggest, and serve quality food and beverage items per standards.
  • Abilities:
    • Multitask while remaining guest- and service-centric.
    • Effectively communicate with guests and associates.
    • Resolve guest issues professionally while maintaining a hospitable attitude.
    • Market and promote to increase exposure and sales.
    • Work as a team member in cleaning, side work, food preparation, and storage.

Working Conditions

  • Physical presence at the hotel is required; remote work is not an option.
  • Standing and walking for long periods while maintaining a friendly, professional image.
  • May be required to work any day or shift, including weekends.
