About the Role

The Restaurant Server is responsible for serving food and beverage items in a knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful manner to all guests in a high-volume restaurant environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet all guests at their table and respond to inquiries regarding the menu, wine list, and venue events.
• Inform guests of daily specials and make recommendations.
• Suggestively sell menu items, beverages, and desserts.
• Anticipate and respond to guest needs promptly and professionally.
• Address guest concerns or complaints with a friendly and positive attitude.
• Organize and prioritize service according to the appropriate sequence.
• Take and communicate orders to the kitchen and/or bar using the MICROS terminal.
• Verify food orders for accuracy, proper presentation, and special requests before serving.
• Deliver food and beverages to tables efficiently.
• Perform opening, running, and closing duties according to House of Blues (HOB) policy.
• Maintain line of sight and atmosphere control by circulating through the work area.
• Memorize menus and daily specials.
• Pre-bus tables by removing dirty plates, glasses, and other items once guests have finished.
• Clean spills on tables or around the work area.
• Maintain HOB safety and sanitation standards.
• Prepare guest checks using the MICROS terminal and verify accuracy.
• Process cash, credit card, and traveler’s check transactions.
• Stay informed about all music, promotional, or special events in the venue.
• Assist other servers or employees as needed.
• Occasionally work Special Events scheduled throughout the venue.

Requirements

• 2-5 years of high-volume experience in restaurant operations.
• Working knowledge of high-volume restaurant operations and safe, responsible alcohol service.
• Standard food preparation and presentation skills.
• Strong guest relations and ability to read guests to anticipate their needs.
• Wine and liquor knowledge.
• Ability to handle multiple tables efficiently with an upbeat and friendly attitude.
• High School Diploma.

Preferred Qualifications

• Point of Sales (POS) knowledge, preferably MICROS.

Physical Demands

• Fast-paced, often loud, and stressful working environment.
• Extended periods of prolonged standing and working on your feet.
• Ability to lift or move up to 25 lbs. using proper lifting techniques.
