About the role

Carolina Reserve of Durham in Durham, North Carolina, is seeking cooks to assist in the preparation, oversight, and serving of meals. Our cooks are responsible for delivering top-notch food service in a high-quality, cutting-edge community.

Responsibilities

• Prepare palatable foods that are appetizing in appearance
• Knowledge of safety and sanitary requirements
• Able to learn basic tasks and follow written and verbal instructions
• Pleasant, friendly, and helpful at all times ensuring proper and timely service
• Well-groomed and able to follow dress requirements

Requirements

• At least 6 months in assisted living experience including food preparation, full-line menu items and therapeutic diets preferred
• Maintains a current ServSafe certificate (food services sanitation certificate) or able to participate in the food services sanitation training to become ServSafe certified
• High School diploma or GED accepted
• In NC, must be 18 years or older if operating power-driven machines such as a meat slicer, mixer, etc
• CPR & First-Aid certifications preferred
• Able to work in an environment conducive to caring for residents without posing a substantial safety or health threat to self or others
• Able to work well with others and promote a team environment
