Server Assistant - Saltbreeze
About the Role
Pier Sixty-Six Resort, South Florida’s beacon of hospitality, invites dedicated, energetic, and polished hospitality enthusiasts to join our team as a Server Assistant at Saltbreeze. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys variety in their daily tasks. The Server Assistant will rotate through different assignments each day, including buffet attendant, beverage attendant, coffee/tea attendant, food runner, and floater. Your flexibility and enthusiasm will be key in ensuring exceptional service and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere for our guests.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting our restaurant operations by ensuring cleanliness, efficiency, and guest satisfaction. Your attention to detail and dedication to service will contribute to the seamless flow of our dining experience.
Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain the buffet station, ensuring all items are replenished and presented attractively.
- Set and maintain dining room tables according to established standards, ensuring they are clean, properly arranged, and fully equipped with necessary items such as utensils, glassware, and condiments.
- Support servers by clearing and resetting tables promptly, removing used dishes, glassware, and utensils, and replenishing supplies as needed to ensure a smooth and efficient dining experience.
- Support bar operations as needed with opening and closing procedures, stocking and restocking, preparing garnish, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar.
- Interact with guests in a friendly and courteous manner, assisting with any requests or inquiries they may have, and ensuring their needs are promptly addressed to enhance their dining experience.
- Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the dining area, including floors, furniture, and fixtures, to uphold high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Work closely with restaurant servers, hosts, and kitchen staff to coordinate table turnover, communicate guest needs, and ensure efficient service delivery.
- Assist with beverage service, including refilling water glasses and delivering beverages to tables, to support the overall service flow and enhance guest satisfaction.
- Adhere to all resort policies, procedures, and hygiene standards, including food safety guidelines, to maintain a safe and sanitary dining environment for guests and staff.
- Have a working knowledge of draft beer systems and how to properly change a keg.
- Communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions, the length of wait, recooking orders, and product availability.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
- Thank guests with genuine appreciation.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glass, etc., throughout the day.
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
- Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to resort standards.
- Anticipate and address guests' service needs.
- Speak with others using clear and professional language.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others and support your team to reach common goals.
- Maintain behavior consistent with the sexual harassment/hostile work environment policy dictated in the Employee Handbook.
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a food service or hospitality role is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to multitask and handle a variety of responsibilities with efficiency.
- High level of professionalism and a positive attitude.
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift items up to 25 pounds throughout the shift.
- Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work under variable temperature conditions.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
- Must be able to speak, comprehend, read, and write English.
- Must have effective communication skills.
- Ability to implement and uphold service standards.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.
- Ability to interact with all associates and guests of the resort.
- Ability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED recommended.
- Some College experience or Degree recommended.
- Must have a current Food Handlers card.
- Previous food running, busser, and server assistant experience in a professional setting is preferred.
