Relocation assistance may be available. This position requires an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, with an investigation date within the last 6 years. Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) is required. Travel is expected at 10% of the time.
About the Role
Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to support the Sentinel program in Roy, UT. This role involves sustainment, development, production, and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure.
This position is contingent on contract award and may be filled as a Principal (level 3) or Sr. Principal (level 4) Systems Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop supporting systems engineering and design artifacts.
- Work with technical teams and stakeholders to develop and mature architecture content for large program designs.
- Develop and incorporate appropriate system requirements, ensuring proper representation in the model.
- Develop systems architecture using Cameo Enterprise Architecture (behavioral, structural, analytical).
- Contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis.
- Develop unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes for model development, tool integration, and team integration.
- Support use case development, requirements definition/allocation, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification & validation, and requirements traceability.
Requirements
Principal Systems Engineer (Level 3)
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM and 5 years of experience (3 years with a master’s degree, 0 years with a PhD).
- 1 year of experience with requirements management/analysis/allocations.
- 1 year of experience with Model-Based Engineering / Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBE/MBSE) practices, languages, or tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody, or MagicDRAW.
- 1 year of experience with one or more of the following: Command & Control (C2), physical security, cybersecurity, Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) systems/processes, communications systems, facility design, or military aerospace development (e.g., Sentinel, Minute Man III, B-2, B-21 delivery systems).
Sr. Principal Systems Engineer (Level 4)
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM and 8 years of experience (6 years with a master’s degree, 4 years with a PhD).
- Current Special Access Program (SAP) approval at time of hire.
- 2 years of experience with requirements management/analysis/allocations.
- 2 years of experience with Model-Based Engineering / Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBE/MBSE) practices, languages, or tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody, or MagicDRAW.
- 2 years of experience with one or more of the following: Command & Control (C2), physical security, cybersecurity, Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) systems/processes, communications systems, facility design, or military aerospace development (e.g., Sentinel, Minute Man III, B-2, B-21 delivery systems).
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of experience developing or reviewing requirements within DOORS or similar tools.
- Self-driven with the ability to tackle challenges, solve problems with minimal oversight, and recommend solutions/process improvements to leadership.
- 1 year of experience in team environments with leadership responsibilities.
- 1 year of experience creating, updating, and maintaining system performance documentation.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Pay
Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00
Base salary offers consider scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
Schedule
This position follows a 9/80 work schedule, allowing employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
