Sensor Deployment Field Specialist (Contract)

About the role

MKThink is building a trusted ad hoc field deployment pool of sensor deployment specialists to support projects as they arise. This is not a fixed part-time role or guaranteed weekly schedule. Instead, team members will be contacted for project-based deployments, site visits, troubleshooting, and documentation support based on location, availability, and project needs.

Responsibilities

  • Install, mount, label, and document sensors and gateways
  • Troubleshoot WiFi, connectivity, power, firmware, and data sync issues
  • Confirm sensors are properly configured and transmitting data
  • Capture room dimensions using laser measurement or LiDAR
  • Sketch and annotate floorplans for deployment documentation
  • Log device IDs, locations, mounting height, orientation, and photos
  • Capture and document site conditions and client interactions
  • Coordinate professionally with site contacts, facilities teams, and occupants
  • Follow site protocols and work respectfully in school, public agency, and community environments

Requirements

  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently
  • Comfortable using basic tools, ladders, and field equipment
  • Able to work in indoor and outdoor deployment conditions
  • Comfortable troubleshooting devices, WiFi, and setup issues
  • Clear, professional, and respectful when working with clients and site occupants

Qualifications

  • Interest in sensors, buildings, environmental monitoring, smart facilities, or field technology
  • Sensor deployment or field installation experience preferred
  • WiFi/network troubleshooting experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with IAQ, occupancy, weather, IoT, LoRaWAN, MQTT, BLE, or gateways is a plus
  • Experience with LiDAR, laser measurement, CAD/GIS, or floorplan documentation is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort following technical deployment protocols

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
