Sensor Applications Engineer (Onsite)

U.S. Citizen, U.S. Person, or Immigration Status Requirements: The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Active and existing DoD Secret security clearance required after day 1.

About the Role

Pratt & Whitney, a world leader in aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems, is seeking a Sensor Applications Engineer to support military, commercial, and industrial development engine programs within Instrumentation Operations. This role is based at our Middletown, Connecticut facility and involves designing and overseeing applied instrumentation tasks for test engines, including Instrumentation Planning and Egress Design, Sensor Applications and Assembly Support, and Engine Instrumentation Dress and Termination.

Sensor Engineers are integral to the Engine Integrated Product Teams (EIPT) and must adapt to rapidly changing requirements in a fast-paced development environment. Travel is up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Lead or co-lead instrumentation projects and resolve complex problems with oversight.
• Create instrumentation installation, routing/egress plans, and work instructions using vector-based graphics and CAD programs.
• Represent Instrumentation Operations while interfacing with instrumentation requestors, assembly/test engineers, and other validation customers.
• Coordinate and oversee part-level instrumentation installs during engine assembly by hourly, salary, and outsource sensor applications technicians.
• Identify improvements and resolve Engineering Standard Work issues or concerns.
• Utilize communication, project management, and interpersonal skills to work independently and in a team environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 2 years of engineering experience or an Associate’s degree in STEM with 4 years of experience.
• Knowledge of pressure, temperature, strain gage, and vibration sensors and/or sensor applications experience (preferred).
• Experience in development of gas turbine engines and engine part repair validation processes (preferred).
• Current U.S. Government Secret level security clearance or the ability to obtain one (preferred).

Pay

The salary range for this role is $68,900 USD - $131,100 USD. The range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Schedule

This is an onsite role. Employees in onsite roles will work primarily at the assigned site. Commuting to and from the site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
