You approach problems tactically and strategically, looking for opportunities to do something both cool and effective that fits within the creative brief and the budget and scope for the project. You are comfortable working within an established brand, extending it as necessary, but you’re also comfortable working within a less established brand that may be in the middle of brand refresh or needs its brand guidelines applied in a new and fresh way or creating brand systems from scratch. The right individual will have a background in visual design with a strong sense of styles, layout, typography, accessibility, and best practices when designing for the web. You are organized, a clear communicator, and comfortable working collaboratively in a group or on your own when needed, but you’re also eager to receive feedback and critique from your project team and the rest of the design team at Whiteboard. You’re excited to work closely across disciplines, working with strategists to influence UX strategy, copywriting, and wireframes, with other designers to evolve and develop beautiful designs, and with developers to build functional, intuitive digital experiences and ensure that the vision, design, and true potential of the project is achieved. You’re comfortable leading design across multiple projects and you know how to keep your designs and work from blurring together or looking the same. You’re excited to work as part of a remote team, communicating asynchronously when needed, both with clients and the rest of the Whiteboard team, anc communicating over tools like Slack, Asana, Figma, Loom, and Zoom as needed. You’re comfortable leading client reviews (primarily over Zoom), receiving and processing feedback in real time, and guiding the client and internal stakeholders through the design decisions you’ve made, always having a good reason for the direction you’ve taken a project.You have exceptional time management skills and can easily identify the right priorities in your schedule, task list, and project requirements and you’re comfortable switching between tasks and projects as needed. ‍ Qualifications 5+ years of digital design experience, with a strong and diverse portfolio of original work — previous agency experience is preferredVery experienced in Figma and Adobe Creative SuiteStrong understanding of brand and typography designStrong understanding of user-first design and best practices in accessibilityStrong understanding of modern CMS, frontend frameworks, and web developmentExceptional at developing design systems, and planning for multiple devices, technologies, browsers, and adhering to ADA standardsExceptional at component-based design, as well as, designing new innovative layouts, and design systems that can scale and be easy to manage by clients and developers ‍ BONUS POINTS Previous agency experienceExperience developing websites in Webflow, Framer, or from scratchStrong Photoshop skills, you can create unique visuals that enhance designsExperience with digital illustration (icons, illustrations, characters, etc.)Experience in 3D design (Spline, Blender, C4D, etc.)Experience with animation for the web (Lottie, GSAP, etc.)Interested in the future of AI and how it can be used in web designExperience working on digital products ‍ QUALITIES WE’RE LOOKING FOR You love learning and self-teaching, but you’re not afraid to ask for help.When faced with something you don’t understand— you’ll Google it and read a reputable article or watch a video on YouTube before you ask someone how to do a thing, but you also can identify and communicate when you need assistance or additional context to be successful.You’re critical of your own work and always getting better.You’re the kind of person who can always see how their own work can be improved — you don’t wait for someone else to tell you when something is off or could be better.
