About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Vice-President/General Manager or Business Unit Leader in Dallas, TX to join our team. This role focuses on fostering client relationships, driving business growth, and overseeing divisional operations in our general construction markets, including healthcare, commercial, and wood frame projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provides advice and direction to division personnel toward their professional development.
  • Creates and monitors the divisional budget, preparing reports for the President/CEO and COO.
  • Assists in the development and securing of new business; partners with other General Managers.
  • Reviews cost analysis of each project monthly and implements corrective action if necessary.
  • Builds customer relationships and an industry network.
  • Supports diversity by monitoring progress toward EEO goals.
  • Establishes and implements short-term and long-range goals aligned with overall corporate strategy.
  • Leads the hiring process for the assigned office.
  • Develops and maintains a strong industry network; participates actively in industry and civic organizations to promote corporate citizenship.
  • Evaluates the performance of division staff.
  • Ensures company policies and division procedures are consistently understood and implemented.
  • Assists in the project pursuit process, including evaluating potential projects for profitability, contract terms, staffing, risks, and competition.
  • Reviews major and complex projects to be bid or negotiated; works closely with preconstruction teams, the President/CEO, and COO.
  • Prepares, monitors, and approves various reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Resolves operating problems and difficulties.
  • Champions safety on all projects and ensures adherence to company safety policies.
  • Plans, staffs, and supervises all assigned division activities through appropriate delegation.
  • Develops the annual business plan and reviews it with the CEO, COO, and CFO.
  • Works with Human Resources on all personnel-related actions.
  • Communicates effectively with customers, suppliers, and employees to ensure needs are met and conflicts are resolved.
  • Communicates and reinforces the company’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Maintains knowledge of and follows company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensures regular, consistent, and punctual attendance in accordance with operational needs.
  • Maintains professional, respectful, and cooperative working relationships to support teamwork and business operations.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field from a four-year college or university.
  • 15-20 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
