About the role

The Senior UXO Supervisor is the lead UXO specialist on site, and supervises all on-site munitions response activities. This position is part of the Federal Solutions team, delivering resources to U.S. government customers in defense, security, intelligence, infrastructure, and environmental sectors.

Requirements

• At least 10 years EOD/MEC experience if an EOD school graduate, or 13 years if a graduate of a UXO Technician I school.
• Must meet the criteria for, and perform the functions of, a UXO-TIII, UXOQCS, and UXOSO as defined in DoD TP 18 dated 24 June 2020.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with DoD Military Service- and/or DDESB-approved site plans.
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise all on-site munitions response and operational range clearance activities.
• Supervise up to ten UXO teams.
• Assist in the development of required plans (e.g., health and safety plans).
• Review all field reports (e.g., daily reports, audits) and approve UXO team reports.
• Evaluate the risk of movement of UXO or DMM within an MRS or operational range with the UXOSO, and provide approval for movement by a UXOT when the risk is acceptable.
• Perform functions of a UXO-TIII, including:
  • Supervising and performing on-site destruction or demilitarization of MEC in place or at a consolidated detonation site.
  • Determining safety for initiating destruction and when engineering controls are required.
  • Implementing an explosives storage plan in accordance with applicable guidance.
  • Preparing administrative reports for munitions responses and operational range clearance activities.
  • Developing and implementing standard operating procedures and work plans.
  • Assisting in the preparation of risk and hazard analyses.
  • Conducting daily site safety briefings.
  • Supervising MEC-related activities performed at a site.
  • Determining if MDEH is safe to ship and properly documented for transport.
  • Packaging military munitions, commercial explosives, and MDEH for transport.
  • Serving as the UXO team leader.
• Perform functions of a UXOQCS, including:
  • Developing and implementing the project’s quality control (QC) plan for MEC-related activities.
  • Conducting and documenting QC audits of MEC-related activities.
  • Identifying, documenting, reporting, and ensuring completion of corrective actions.
  • Preparing QC reports.
• Perform functions of a UXOSO, including:
  • Developing and implementing explosives and health and safety plans and programs.
  • Analyzing potential risks associated with MEC-related activities and developing mitigating measures.
  • Establishing and enforcing site-specific explosives safety requirements, including:
    • Enforcing personnel limits and explosives safety quantity distance (ESQD) arcs.
    • Conducting, documenting, and reporting safety inspections.
    • Ensuring protective works and safety equipment are used and operated correctly.
  • Ensuring proper operation and maintenance of air-monitoring equipment at sites with airborne contaminants.
  • Evaluating the risk of movement of MEC within an MRS or operational range.
