About the role
The Senior Utilities Engineer Supervisor participates in establishing and implementing the mission, goals, objectives, and priorities of the Rail Transit Safety Branch (RTSB). Under general direction, this role plans, assigns, organizes, and directs the work of a group of Utilities Engineers and other professional staff responsible for the safety oversight of public and private rail transit systems. Responsibilities include training staff, assigning and reviewing work, coordinating daily activities, evaluating performance, and recommending appropriate actions. The position also processes administrative work for the section, analyzes situations, and recommends courses of action.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex engineering work to ensure the safety oversight of rail transit systems, including project safety certification during design and construction, accident investigations, triennial audits, and safety reviews of transit system operations and maintenance.
- Participate in internal General Order and RTSB procedures revisions.
- Travel within California, including overnight stays, and occasionally work evenings and weekends.
- Possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License, Class C.
Requirements
- Professional engineering license is required.
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, Class C.
- Prepare and submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) detailing how your training, experience, and education qualify you for the position. The SOQ must be in 11-point Arial font, single-spaced, and no more than two pages.
Pay
$11,437.00 - $14,315.00 per month. New state candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range when applicable.
Schedule
Permanent, full-time position with hybrid telework options.
