About the role
ICF’s Transportation Practice specializes in addressing complex planning, policy, and program issues at the nexus of transportation and the environment, energy, and communities. Our work includes strategic planning, research, policy analysis, outreach, training, and program evaluation for Federal, State, and local governments, including the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), the Transportation Research Board (TRB), State transportation and environmental agencies, and metropolitan planning organizations.
Responsibilities
- Planning and completing projects and tasks in our Washington, DC office.
- Conducting complex data analysis and visualization related to transportation data such as freight and passenger travel, and traffic flow.
- Performing geospatial analysis and using Geographic Information System tools like ESRI ArcGIS.
- Building, running, and validating transportation models related to safety, planning, and policy analysis.
- Using statistical methods to analyze transportation data.
- Using scripting languages and software coding, such as SAS, Python, R, and Excel macros.
- Visualizing transportation data and developing interactive dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, etc.
- Assisting with before-and-after studies and policy evaluations for safety strategies and investments.
- Supporting long-range transportation plans (LRTPs/MTPs), TIP prioritization, corridor studies, and policy assessments.
- Working directly with clients, senior staff, and internal and external experts in their field of expertise.
- Contributing to the development of innovative, accurate, timely, and high-quality products and services, typically working on multiple projects with all levels of staff.
- Conducting geospatial analysis of transportation networks and related transportation data.
- Interacting and communicating with clients.
- Developing technical reports, guidance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Transportation engineering or planning, or related fields.
- 5+ years of experience in consulting in the transportation industry.
- Master's degree in transportation engineering or systems engineering preferred.
- Government consulting experience preferred.
- Professional Skills: Identifies and meets the needs of clients within established guidelines; works collaboratively with the project team and client to achieve established goals; develops and manages a portfolio of projects in a particular area of expertise.
