This position is with the Ruth Young Social Impact Institute at the University of Maryland School of Social Work.

About the role

The Senior Technical Assistance and Training Specialist will lead model implementation for community-based and evidence-based programs across the state. Responsibilities include training and guidance on best practices for clinicians, direct care staff, supervisors, administrators, and policy makers. The role involves providing regular oversight through data reports and evaluating implementation strengths and challenges. The selected candidate will develop resources and facilitate meetings to improve partnerships among local programs and their referral sources using implementation science and continuous quality improvement for data-driven decisions. Additionally, this individual will collaborate with state partners to assess and develop technical assistance plans supporting collaboration among key stakeholders and model providers.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains expert knowledge of community-based implementation and engages in ongoing professional development specific to the models being supported.
  • Leads technical assistance activities using generally accepted methods of implementation support.
  • Identifies future training needs and strategies to develop through implementation and evaluation.
  • Continuously evaluates the effectiveness of training and implementation tools and strategies, revising as needed.
  • Establishes relationships and collaborates with external and internal stakeholders to assess and develop long-term implementation and training plans.
  • Develops, recommends, modifies, and implements policies, procedures, and methods of technical assistance to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Leads Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement activities with each model provider, assessing strengths and needs, and developing plans to address them at the provider and community systems level.
  • Demonstrates experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds and skill in understanding cultural differences.
  • Other duties or tasks may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, organizational development, business, communications, or a related field.
  • Four (4) years of related training experience, of which three (3) years must be in relevant training specialization.
  • Ability to teach and make effective public presentations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Experience providing implementation support for evidence-based, community-based programs.
  • Prior experience providing community-based and home-based service delivery using systemic approaches to treatment.
  • Experience in child-serving systems, ideally within child welfare and/or juvenile justice systems.

Skills

  • Clinical competence in family therapy, behavior therapy, child development, and/or substance use treatment and recovery.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate thoughts, ideas, and facts concisely, both verbally and in writing, and interpret complex information.
  • Strong leadership skills, integrity, and openness to continuous learning.
  • Ability to lead the development and execution of training programs using generally accepted methods.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and demonstrate professional, ethical, respectful, and responsible behavior.
  • Experience working with diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Uses an equity lens to inform decisions and achieve effective outcomes.

Pay

$83,000 - $93,000, commensurate with education and experience.

UMB is a public university and constituent institution of the University System of Maryland. All employees are expected to work primarily within the State of Maryland.
