About the role
The Senior Field Test Technician will lead testing, inspection, and commissioning activities across a wide range of electrical equipment and systems including substations and datacenters. The work location will be in either Arizona, Ohio or Idaho depending on your location.
Responsibilities
- Provide training and mentorship of entry to mid-level employees to complete testing on basic/advanced electrical devices and elementary systems.
- Perform visual / mechanical inspections and electrical testing on basic and more advanced electrical devices and circuits, including: Standard equipment, Meter calibrations, Electromechanical and solid-state protective relays, Power quality and load monitoring.
- Assist Project Managers in scheduling, budgeting and billing of projects accurately and timely.
- Understand the contractual scope and submit Change Order Requests for work beyond given scope.
- Oversee upkeep and maintenance to electrical test equipment.
- Communicate issues and test failures to the client and provide remediation for corrective action.
- Review final test reports and compiled project datasheets for client submittal.
- Direct morning safety meetings and provide input on job hazard analysis and risk mitigation efforts.
- Provide mentoring and training in formal environments and OJT to junior personnel.
Requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and strong documentation discipline.
- NETA certification is highly preferred.
- Clear, professional communication with clients and internal teams.
- Ability to work independently in the field while coaching others.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical testing and inspection.
- Experience with electrical testing on a comprehensive list of electrical components and systems.
- Knowledge of electrical codes and standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
