About the role
Performs routine maintenance to ensure safety, proper functionality, and aesthetics of facilities, equipment, or fixtures by following established maintenance schedules and guidelines. Trains a Developmental Technician for on-the-job training and hands-on instruction. Operates, inspects, and maneuvers heavy machinery and powered equipment in accordance with training, certification requirements, and safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Inspects, cleans, and repairs equipment.
- Observes and documents signs of wear and tear.
- Recommends repair needs.
- Determines replacement needs.
- Documents maintenance activities.
- Performs major and minor repairs on facilities, equipment, or fixtures.
- Oversight of work of less-experienced associates.
- Utilizes multiple craft skills to inspect, operate, or test systems to diagnose issues.
- Dismantles equipment to access and remove defective parts.
- Uses blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs.
- Delivers hands-on training sessions on safety, control troubleshooting, and system operations at company facilities, offsite locations, or vendor sites.
- Manages work orders, maintenance schedules, and contractors by completing required written and electronic information.
- Conducts price comparisons of parts and travel related costs.
- Orders and tracks parts and replacement equipment.
- Records purchases and usage.
- Manages parts inventory.
- Reviews journals and invoices.
- Compiles and reports budget information.
- Develops relationships with local parts suppliers and contractors.
- Ensures contractors follow company quality standards, safety requirements, and contract requirements.
- Identifies and reports deficiencies.
- Complies with OSHA and EPA regulations and guidelines and ensures quality work that meets federal, state, and local regulations.
- Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports the company’s mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by using the Open Door Policy.
- Participates in an on-call rotation to support business critical needs outside of standard business hours.
- Safely operates motor vehicles and ensures that the vehicle has all required documents.
- Checks fuel and water levels, brake condition, signals, and lights.

- The hourly wage range for this position is $33.00 - $63.00.
- Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances.
- Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed.
- Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
- Minimum Qualifications:
- Vocational or technical certification and 3 years’ experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
- 6 years’ experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area.
- Licenses in a related trade in the city and/or state where the job is located.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
- Ability to read and speak the English language as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
- Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
- Mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
- No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
- No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
- Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
