About the role

AECOM is seeking a Senior Technical Specialist (RCRA) to support our Environmental business line. This role involves serving as a senior technical leader, applying advanced knowledge of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and hazardous waste regulations to deliver complex environmental projects for industrial, commercial, and federal clients.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a fully capable professional in the field with minimal direction.
  • Applies advanced knowledge to develop design procedures, software, and tools to facilitate high-quality, cost-effective technical project activities.
  • Develops estimates of technical efforts for projects.
  • Manages communication and collaboration with full design team and client.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
  • Prepares and reviews technical deliverables.
  • Provides guidance to junior staff while ensuring high-quality, cost-effective solutions that meet project objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Initiates and creates project designs and plans with responsibility for preparing presentation and design drawings.
  • Prepares designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and working drawings.
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments.
  • May oversee the work of less experienced designers.
  • Maintains regular contact with clients and oversees all aspects of the project to ensure client needs are met.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS and 6 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • 8+ years of experience supporting RCRA regulatory compliance, hazardous waste management, and environmental permitting projects.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state hazardous waste regulations, including RCRA corrective action and compliance programs.
  • Experience serving industrial, manufacturing, energy, chemical, or federal government clients.
  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary environmental projects, including technical oversight, budgeting, scheduling, and client management.
  • Professional certification such as CHMM, PE, PG, or other relevant environmental credential preferred.
