Responsibilities
- Responsible for the quality production and review of PS&E (plans, specifications and estimate) packages assigned
- Completes the technical components of larger and/or more complex projects in accordance with engineering agreements/scopes, standards of the Company and general best practices
- Participates in technical quality reviews for projects managed by others
- Frequently reviews standard details and quality control measures and upgrade as necessary
- Extends externally to keep up with best practices and builds an external reputation for technical capability & credibility
- Delegates and directs technical tasks to other staff on the Technical Career Track as well as other lower levels of engineering staff
- Contributes to the training and mentoring of staff for efficient project execution & quality
- Led or advises the technical solution or solutions for project proposals & client presentations
- Maintains close attention to project details, quality measures and the efficient delivery of solutions for large and complex projects
- Adheres to quality control measures and works closely with others for compliance with standards and targeted technical objectives
- Communicates effectively in the delegation of work tasks to lower level engineering staff plus the mentoring, development, and training of such staff
- Leads the technical development and approach for winning proposals
- Maintains or exceeds targeted utilization
- Maintains a strong reputation internally as a technical “go to” person for solutions and technical/quality reviews
- Provides ongoing technical mentorship and performs trainings as appropriate
- Continues to build an external reputation for technical expertise through engagement with professional and technical organizations
- Develops technical white papers, engaged speaker and/or performs outside teaching/adjunct professor assignments to extend and expand the Mark Thomas brand
- Promotes and supports an inclusive workplace
Qualifications
- Mets/exceeds competencies, work products and responsibilities of a Lead Technical Engineer
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, a Master’s Degree in specific & relevant areas of engineering is preferred
- 12+ years’ progressively responsible relevant experience
- California Professional Engineer (PE) license required; or PE in another state with the ability to obtain CA Licensure within one year, other relevant certifications a plus
- Proficient in MS PowerPoint and other software packages
- Knowledge of overall project deliverables (PSR, PAED, PS&E)
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of technical best practices, quality standards and details
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction methods and techniques
- Proven ability to direct and delegate work assignments
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse people and personalities
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
