Senior Structural Engineer/Discipline Lead
About the role
The successful candidate will be able to work both independently as well as with a diverse team in-house team of professionals and subconsultants throughout the country in all disciplines. The ideal candidate will not only provide technical expertise in the execution of projects but be able to provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members. The chosen candidate should expect engagement in a variety of project types. Major market sectors include but are not limited to mission critical buildings, aviation, light passenger rail, and commercial building design.
Responsibilities
- Leading and developing a team of structural engineers across United States with a focus on Buildings’ design.
- Predicting and planning current and future resources, including strategic membership growth, while developing and mentoring the team.
- Design and management of large, complex, long-term projects (technical or business) while coordinating with other disciplines and external partners within tight time and budget constraints.
- Attending meetings and communicating with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues.
- Business development capabilities, experience with putting fees and proposals together, established network within the architectural industry.
- Responsible and accountable for client relations (internal and/or external).
- Represents EXP in the industry at high levels nationally and internationally, e.g. think tanks, standard committees and international conferences.
Requirements
Minimum 10 years of experience related to the design of building structures is preferred. Variation in experience (up or down) will be considered for the ideal candidate. Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies or significant credit towards eligibility for membership. Professional Engineering licensure is required. Licensure as a Structural Engineer via structural specific examination (Structural I/II, Structural Gravity/Lateral) is preferred. Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is strongly preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering w/ an emphasis on structures is considered a minimum requirement.
