Senior Technical Lead

Senior Registered Engineer - CMT / Special Inspections A well-established engineering firm is seeking a Senior Registered Engineer to support and lead its Construction Materials Testing (CMT) and Special Inspections (SI) operations across multiple offices in North Carolina.This is a highly visible leadership role focused on technical oversight, staff mentorship, and quality assurance, with a strong emphasis on in-person collaboration. Key Responsibilities Provide technical leadership and support to CMT / SI teams across two regional officesConduct regular site visits to engage with field staff, provide guidance, and help troubleshoot project challengesMentor and develop junior engineers and technical staffCollaborate closely with laboratory managers and perform routine audits to ensure quality and compliance standardsDevelop engineering recommendations and lead discussions with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and internal teamsSupport training initiatives by organizing and delivering technical sessions for staffMaintain involvement in relevant professional and technical organizations, with some exposure to business development activitiesTravel weekly between regional offices to ensure alignment and team support Requirements Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in North CarolinaStrong background in Construction Materials Testing (CMT) and/or Special Inspections (SI)~15+ years of relevant experience (flexibility for exceptional candidates)Additional experience in geotechnical engineering is a plusBased in or willing to commute to the Charlotte or Greensboro areaWillingness to work in-office or on-site daily to support team collaboration Compensation & Benefits Base salary in the range of $125,000 - $150,000 (flexible for highly qualified candidates)Performance bonus of 10-15%Potential eligibility for ownership/equity participation after 12 months
