Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee tax strategy for all corporate and individual clients
- Provide strategic tax guidance to Account Managers and develop their tax filing knowledge
- Offer expert advice on complex tax matters for high-earning individuals
- Ensure accurate and timely tax compliance for all clients
- Oversee all corporate and individual tax filings
- Manage the end-to-end tax filing process for both corporate entities and individual clients
- Review and audit financial statements to ensure correctness
- Maintain the status of tax preparation and filings to ensure deadlines are met
- Serve as the primary liaison between external CPA partners and internal teams
- Analyze tax notices and take appropriate actions for timely and effective resolutions
- Communicate directly with tax authorities via written correspondence or phone
- Partner with other Tax Managers to meet Tax Department Deliverables and Operational Excellence
- Ensure the highest level of quality across all departmental work
- Review and file client 1099 and 1042-S forms
- Administer annual tax training
- Communicate key tax deadlines, updates to policy and procedures
- Manage team performance & development
- Leverage team members' strengths and provide opportunities for growth
- Provide consistent feedback and prepare an annual performance evaluation
- Manage projects and continuously improve tax processes
- Handle ad hoc projects as required by new business or regulatory needs
- Implement solutions to increase efficiency
- Promote and exemplify company values
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA certification preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in tax management, preferably in a professional services firm
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
- Experience working with complex tax laws and regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Access
- Experience with tax software such as TurboTax or TaxAct
