Senior Systems and Reliability Engineer
About the role
The Defense Systems Sector at Leidos is seeking a Senior RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability) Engineer to join a diverse team in creating unique solutions for complex problems. This role involves leading and managing other RAM engineers on various programs, including those associated with the DoD, DARPA, NASA, and commercial applications.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage other RAM engineers on programs ranging from small to large scale.
- Create and manage reliability artifacts such as reliability prediction, MTTR analysis, RBD, reliability reports, FMEA/FMECA, FRACAS, and more.
- Interface with program management and executive leadership to resolve complex and significant problems.
- Present reliability engineering artifacts to customers in formal design reviews.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert and customer liaison in many programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical/engineering degree from an ABET-accredited university.
- 12+ years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience conducting RAM related analyses such as MTTR, MTBF, FMEA, RBD, power dissipation, and derating.
- Demonstrated ability to take on complex or ambiguous technical tasks and drive them to completion with minimal supervision.
- Professional experience in deriving RAM requirements for complex systems.
- Experience supporting NASA, DoD, or DARPA programs.
- Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
- Possession of a secret clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Qualifications
- Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET-accredited university; 12+ years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience; experience conducting RAM related analyses; demonstrated ability to handle complex tasks; professional experience in RAM requirements; experience with NASA, DoD, or DARPA programs; residency in North Alabama or relocation willingness; secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with programming or scripting languages, Reliasoft and/or other reliability analysis tools, LTSpice or other electronic circuit simulators, SysML, Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) and/or INCOSE CSEP certification, detailed understanding of systems engineering, ESS and HALT experience, risk management, test planning, proposal development, and DoD acquisition processes.
Skills
- Proficiency in deriving RAM requirements for complex systems.
- Experience with Reliasoft and/or other reliability analysis tools.
- Experience with LTSpice or other electronic circuit simulators.
- Experience in working with SysML for Model-Based Systems Engineering.
- Experience in risk management, test planning, and proposal development.
- Understanding of DoD acquisition processes.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $131,300.00 - $237,350.00.
