About the Role
The Maintenance Sr. Superintendent’s primary purpose is to optimize ongoing maintenance and electrical repair activities at Ray Mine, ensuring efficient use of resources and meeting departmental needs. This role ensures compliance with Company policies and Federal, State, and Local regulations, focusing on safety, environmental impact, production, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Optimize safety, environmental impact, production, job priority, workforce availability, material availability, financial impact, job duration, customer desires, and planned maintenance compliance.
- Plan, coordinate, implement, and control maintenance activities to improve plant and equipment availability.
- Build and maintain a team capable of performing repairs, identifying failures, and addressing root causes.
- Review project documents for scope and technical accuracy.
- Analyze costs to identify savings and reduce long-term expenses.
- Approve purchases, manage spare parts, and oversee warranties.
- Determine maintenance requirements and establish procedures.
- Negotiate equipment purchases and leases.
- Justify capital expenditures for maintenance equipment.
- Manage contractor projects, monitoring progress and costs.
- Supervise salaried maintenance staff, general supervisors, and clerical members.
- Coach and counsel direct reports on performance.
- Interpret company/departmental directives and ensure compliance.
- Develop improved maintenance procedures.
- Foster relationships with local unions and manage collective bargaining agreements.
- Handle grievances and personnel issues within Company policies and union agreements.
- Support and enforce the Company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety program.
- Maintain required training in environmental, safety, and health awareness, including MSHA requirements.
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in copper or mineral processing operations.
- Proven leadership in achieving operational excellence in production and maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and project management skills.
- Understanding of process control, automation, and optimization techniques.
- English language fluency (CEFR B2 - Upper Intermediate or higher).
Skills
- Excellent computer skills with SAP and MS Office.
- Time management and multitasking abilities.
- Valid driver's license.
- Willingness to travel and perform fieldwork, including walking over rough terrain, sitting, standing, bending, and climbing stairs/ladders.
