About the role
The Defense Systems Analysis Department WPB seeks a Senior Specialist Engineer, System Analysis & Engine Control Design. This full-time position supports programs at the West Palm Beach, FL campus. The engineer reports to the Manager of Systems Engineering, Analysis and Verification in WPB.
Responsibilities
- Conduct cycle and engine matching analyses to understand component level performance and its impact on overall engine performance.
- Validate and update system simulations using test data for both steady-state and transient engine operating modes.
- Develop digital engine control logic and schedules to support program development activities.
- Contribute to technical analyses for anomaly investigation and resolution teams.
- Provide on-site customer technical support for engine ground tests and system flight test activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Active Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Additional Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
- Proficiency in NPSS propulsion performance models, ModelCenter, CAD tools, trajectory analysis tools, Python, C/C++, SysML, and FORTRAN.
- Experience with engine control system design, software test design and execution, and data reduction/analysis.
- Experience with Software-In-The-Loop (SIL) control system design and implementation (MATLAB/Simulink/LabVIEW).
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and Mission Architecture tools.
- Communication and presentation skills with cross-functional and integrated product teams.
- Knowledge and experience with air-breathing high-speed propulsion systems used in defense applications.
- Experience with System Analysis, including modeling & simulation, performance & operability analysis, engine control operation & design.
