About the role

The Senior Specialist, Payroll Accounting – North America supports the North America Payroll team by ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payroll and related payroll accounting activities.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the North America Payroll team by ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payroll and related payroll accounting activities.
  • Prepares payroll entries and accruals, completes account reconciliations, and maintains payroll records in accordance with company policies and audit requirements.
  • Works closely with Payroll, Human Resources, and Finance to ensure payroll transactions are processed accurately and payroll-related financial information is recorded and reported in a timely manner.
  • Process end-to-end payroll for a workforce of 700+ hourly and salaried employees across the U.S. and Canada, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Review and reconcile payroll transactions, HR system changes, earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefits.
  • Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries, general ledger interface files, and monthly accruals, including salaries, bonuses, taxes, and benefits.
  • Perform monthly payroll account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain payroll records, files, and supporting documentation in accordance with audit and compliance requirements.
  • Assist with internal and external audits and respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees, HR, and Finance.
  • Serve as backup for Payroll Manager responsibilities during absences.
  • Perform other payroll and accounting-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3+ years hands-on processing payroll with hourly and exempt employees.
  • 3+ years preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations.
  • 1+ years working with ADP, preferably Workforce Now.
  • Advanced Excel skills including common formulas (i.e. VLookup, IF statements, Pivot Tables, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Fluent in English.

Skills

  • Excellent analytical skills are required, including the ability to effectively communicate complex technical materials and concepts in a non-technical manner.
