Senior SOTIF Engineer

For our client, we are seeking a Senior SOTIF Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Manufacturing & Automotive space. This role will focus on advancing safety for autonomous vehicle development by partnering closely with functional safety, system, AI-ML, and software engineering teams. The position will lead SOTIF evaluations, help define acceptance criteria, and strengthen design and validation processes to reduce risk and improve safety outcomes. This is a highly collaborative role that combines technical depth, analytical judgment, and cross-functional leadership in a complex automotive environment. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $177,300 – $212,800 annually Responsibilities Work with functional safety and system engineers to meet SOTIF targets in autonomous vehicle development Lead SOTIF evaluations and guide engineers to meet acceptance criteria Collaborate with AI-ML engineers and software developers to ensure the safety of solutions Identify functional insufficiencies and conduct risk assessments Collaborate with design teams to define and implement design improvements Evaluate design specifications to ensure compliance with SOTIF standards Develop verification and validation parameters for safety scenarios Qualifications Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent plus 3 years of experience; or a Bachelor's degree in the same fields with 6 years of experience Strong knowledge of automotive and aerospace industries Expertise in ISO 21448 (SOTIF), ISO-PAS 8800 (Safety and AI), and ISO 26262 (Functional Safety) Excellent project management and leadership skills Strong analytical and risk assessment abilities Benefits 100% paid medical, dental, and vision premiums for full-time employees 401K plan with a 6% employer match Flexible schedule and generous paid vacation available from the start date AD+D and life insurance Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
