About the Opportunity

The Senior Software Engineer, Voice AI is responsible for designing and building scalable, resilient backend services for the organization's voice AI platform. This role includes leading significant projects end-to-end, making key technical decisions, and collaborating across teams to translate ambiguous problems into reliable systems. The position is critical in shaping the technical direction of the voice platform and contributing to its long-term growth and impact.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain backend services supporting the voice AI platform
• Lead complex projects from design through production, managing outcomes and stakeholder alignment
• Make architectural decisions and define patterns to reduce complexity
• Develop integrations with AI platforms and internal systems balancing speed, reliability, and scalability
• Implement observability and monitoring frameworks for AI-powered systems
• Advocate for engineering quality and best practices
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design feedback, and technical guidance

Requirements

• 5+ years experience with object-oriented languages such as Java or Kotlin
• Basic frontend development experience on small projects
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Experience deploying and owning complex, mission-critical production services
• Proven leadership of multi-person projects from design through rollout
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and production reliability
• Experience with AI-powered systems including nondeterminism, evaluation strategies, observability, and cost management
• Practical experience developing AI-integrated products or features, including working with LLMs or AI capabilities
• Strong cross-team communication and collaboration skills
• Active use of AI coding tools in daily development
• Experience with voice or conversational AI platforms is a plus

Pay

• Zone A: $159,000 to $254,000 USD
• Zone B: $138,000 to $221,000 USD
• Zone C: $125,000 to $200,000 USD

Starting salary determined by skills, experience, and geographic location. Total compensation includes base salary, cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.
