Senior Software Engineer - Backend

The Role

We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a member of our engineering community, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of Nextdoor.

Responsibilities

• Backend development in various languages and frameworks including Python/Django, Kotlin/JVM, SQL, GraphQL, Redis, Postgres, Kafka, AWS
• Collaborate with product management, data science, and design to ensure impactful features for neighbors
• Work with other engineering teams in Toronto, San Francisco, and beyond
• Participate in in-person Nextdoor events and contribute to company culture

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
• Strong coding abilities in at least one language (Python or Kotlin preferred)
• Experience building and deploying flexible backend systems at scale
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Desire to learn about new technologies and systems
• Eagerness to explore and apply AI and emerging technologies

Pay

The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $165,000 to $250,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially greater in the event that your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the level expected for the role.
