Senior Software Engineer - Backend

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer - Backend at Boeing Intelligence & Analytics, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions. You will provide technical leadership on high-impact projects, facilitate alignment and clarity on goals, outcomes, and timelines, analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements, work closely with the Chief Engineer to define feature specifications and build products, conduct design and code reviews, and complete medium to large features independently without guidance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions
• Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects
• Facilitate alignment and clarity on goals, outcomes, and timelines
• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
• Work closely with the Chief Engineer to define feature specifications and build products
• Conduct design and code reviews
• Complete medium to large features (each with many tasks) independently without guidance
• Identify and drive changes as needed for assigned codebase, product area, or systems

Qualifications

• Required Education and Years of Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, or a related discipline and 20+ years' related work experience
• Required Qualifications: Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, experience assisting with development & execution of test procedures for software components, experience with generating & reviewing software/technical documentation, experience working in an Agile software development environment, experience using with Jira and Confluence, ensuring quality control of all developed and modified software, experience with Git, Java, C++, Python, relational database such as PostgresSQL
• Desired Qualifications: Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), experience with Docker/Kubernetes, HAProxy, Nginx, Elastic Stack, telework/remote availability

Pay and Schedule

The pay range for this position is $200,000 - $250,000, based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Telework/Remote Availability: Hybrid work authorized, up to 16 hours per week, depending on team and workload. Work Location(s): Annapolis Junction, MD
