Senior Software Engineer - AI

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer - AI to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space. This role will lead work at the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery. You will work across engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and the technology capabilities that enable long-term growth within a technology-driven environment. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $120,000 – $150,000 annually Responsibilities Design and scale async REST/WebSocket APIs utilizing Python 3.11+ and FastAPI Implement multi-agent workflows to intelligently route traffic among specialized LLM agents Integrate various LLM providers behind a provider-agnostic layer for A/B testing and cost efficiency Deliver Retrieval-Augmented Generation capabilities with vector stores Expose tool-using agents for data analysis and manipulation through OpenAI Assistants Evolve database schemas and optimize Postgres for high concurrency access Maintain a robust CI/CD pipeline encompassing testing, packaging, and deployment processes Qualifications 5+ years of experience in building production APIs using Python 2+ years of experience with FastAPI or a similar async stack In-depth knowledge of async I/O, Pydantic v2, dependency injection, and observability principles Experience implementing workflows with Semantic Kernel or similar frameworks Practical knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation using Azure AI Search, pgvector, or Chroma Strong Postgres expertise, including SQLModel/SQLAlchemy 2 and Alembic migrations Experience managing dependencies with Poetry and virtual environment isolation Benefits Remote work flexibility with required daily overlap in EST Opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI technology with a focus on agent-powered systems Collaborative team culture championing AI-assisted development and problem-solving practices Continuous learning and development in home-grown and commercial APIs Potential to influence the design and architecture of high-impact AI products Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
