Senior Software Engineer - AI

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer - AI to join the team of a leader in the Enterprise Technology space. This role will focus on building and scaling production-grade AI services that turn ambiguous product needs into reliable technical solutions. The engineer will partner closely with product and engineering teams to design agent-based workflows, retrieval systems, and model evaluation pipelines that deliver strong user impact. This is a hands-on backend role with meaningful responsibility for performance, resilience, and integration across internal systems and APIs.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Responsibilities

• Translate ambiguous product goals into effective AI solutions
• Design and implement production AI services and workflows
• Develop reliable agents that interface with internal systems and APIs
• Create event-driven systems handling retries and failure recovery
• Build and optimize retrieval and knowledge-grounded systems
• Evaluate AI models and create testing pipelines to ensure quality
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to AI systems in production

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with backend and distributed systems
• Hands-on experience with Applied AI, LLMs, RAG, NLP, or agent applications in production
• Proficient in Python, FastAPI, and asynchronous programming
• Strong knowledge of backend fundamentals including REST APIs and concurrency
• Experience with messaging architectures like RabbitMQ or Kafka
• Familiarity with LLM API integration and structured tool calling workflows
• Competent in PostgreSQL, Redis, and hybrid search technologies

Pay

$135,000 – $160,000 annually
