About the role

The Senior Simulation Operations Specialist serves as the primary liaison for the coordination, planning, development, and implementation of all Clinical Simulation Center (CSC) teaching and assessment events. This role facilitates high-fidelity human patient simulated learning, manages simulation equipment, media, computers, and materials; operates and troubleshoots simulation software; and ensures events are executed to the highest level of excellence. The specialist supports faculty, staff, and students with simulation needs (Standardized Patients, simulation equipment, and medical supplies) and assists with the daily operation of the center.

Responsibilities

• Develops, plans, evaluates, and implements goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for the Simulation Center.
• Coordinates with counterparts and other staff to ensure consistency across all BCM simulation locations.
• Serves as liaison to faculty or clients and recommends appropriate simulation modalities to meet learning and/or assessment objectives (e.g., Standardized Patients, manikins, task trainers).
• Serves as the Simulation Event Software Administrator.
• Plans, implements, and monitors simulation program activities.
• Assists with the hiring and on-boarding process of simulation confederates.
• Provides on-site supervision and assistance to simulation confederates.
• Provides advice and orientation to faculty regarding Simulation Center procedures and use of equipment.
• Advises and assists instructors and learners throughout events to ensure successful learning outcomes.
• Provides learner orientations, individual learner feedback, and/or group debriefing sessions.
• Assists CSC Managers and Directors with data collection, reporting, and analysis.
• Collaborates on the design, implementation, and maintenance of quality improvement metrics dashboards.
• Assesses CSC needs and makes recommendations for the annual Simulation Center budget.
• Plans, leads, and participates in special projects and events.
• Maintains supply inventories for the lab and assists in creating supply orders of clinical skills supplies.
• Oversees requests and facilitates scheduled use of labs, sign-out of equipment, and transportation of simulation equipment.
• Operates complex simulation equipment throughout simulation events.
• Oversees event scheduling, learner enrollment, and assessment data collection.
• Positions specimens and completes setup of equipment and instruments as required by each session.
• Monitors sessions and assists lab users as needed.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or related field. Four years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement.
• Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree.
• Experience with clinical skills labs, simulation labs, or healthcare environment.
• CHSOS certification (Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist).
