Simulation Operations Specialist

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from a two-year technical college with a major in computer science, information technology, or related area and one year in the information technology field related to the position's role; or
• Graduation from a four-year college or university and one year experience in the information technology field related to the position's role; or
• Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in computer science, information technology, or related degree.
• Related information technology experience may be substituted year for year for the required education.
• Degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

License/Certification Required

Responsibilities

• Provide daily operation, maintenance, and upgrades for clinical and simulation equipment.
• Maintain simulation and lab inventory, requiring a high degree of autonomy and independent judgment.
• Use excellent interpersonal skills to work with faculty, staff, and students in simulation experiences.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate protocols and policies related to simulation and learning lab operations under the direction of and in collaboration with the Simulation Director.
• In collaboration with the Simulation Director, schedule regular site visits with external vendors for troubleshooting and regular equipment maintenance and updates.
• Maintain a current, complete, and accurate inventory of all clinical laboratory equipment and supplies.
• Assist with the regular purchasing and documentation of all simulation equipment and lab supplies, in collaboration with lab faculty and the Simulation Director.
• Facilitate training sessions to ensure faculty members are knowledgeable in the basic operation of all clinical equipment.
• Collect and analyze data related to simulation usage and evaluation.
• In collaboration with the Simulation Director, submit annual outcome and evaluation reports of lab utilization and activity.
• Operate both simulators and AV recording equipment during student learning and faculty training scenarios.
• Set up and maintain labs as needed by internal and external stakeholders.

Skills

• Ability to troubleshoot basic hardware/software issues.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Media Products.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of and experience with patient simulation equipment and related multimedia equipment.
• Familiarity with basic anatomy and physiology.
• Ability to understand basic inventory and material storage procedures.
• Knowledge of relevant health professions principles and practices.
• Ability to safely operate common medical equipment and associated resources.
• Understanding and application of universal precautions when working with biological materials.
• Knowledge base about the technology associated with simulation lab training.
• Broad understanding of simulation lab technical systems, including computer hardware and software, LAN equipment and switching/signaling, networking, server-client relationships, and A/V equipment.
• Support experience with high-fidelity human patient simulators and other simulation-related technology.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 1-year experience with health-related learning technology/simulation.
• Experience with video capture and learning management systems (LMS) software package (e.g., CAE Learning Space, B-Line).
• Experience in higher education.
• Relevant clinical experience and/or medical knowledge.

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm. Occasional work beyond the normal schedule may be required.
