Senior RF Design Engineer

This onsite position is located at one of the following Massachusetts sites: Andover, Tewksbury, or Marlborough. Assignment will be based on business or program need.
Responsibilities
- Design of RF microwave components and phased-array applications
- Develop insights that extend your knowledge in the RF/Microwave field and form the basis of new concepts, theories, and products
- Design and/or test MMIC or module products and test fixtures at RF/microwave frequencies
- Integration and test of component-level and system-level phased-array hardware
- Provide technical support to production activities
- Occasional travel to integration sites, customer facilities, and subcontractor facilities
- Team leadership, including cost and schedule management, proposal writing, and presentation experience
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
- Experience in Microwave/RF system, subsystem, and/or component analysis, design, and/or test
- Experience with an electromagnetic simulation tool such as HFSS, ADS, CST, Genesys, or Mentor Graphics’ Xpedition
- Experience with Cadence Virtuoso and/or an analytical tool such as Matlab
- Experience performing basic RF calculations and cascaded analysis
Qualifications We Value
- Background designing and testing analog CCAs, including frequency conversion, automatic gain control, amplifier design, and analog filter design
- Experience in electrical interconnects and transmission-line design
- Understanding of RF layout techniques from HF to X-band
- Understanding of EMI analysis and mitigation techniques
- Propensity for learning through self-study and comfort in a multi-tasking environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Understanding of allocating and flowing down requirements from the system to the component level
- Experience designing RF/Microwave MMIC circuits, modules, or test fixtures
- Experience with GaAs and/or GaN MMIC devices
- Experience with integrated-circuit layout and physical verification using Cadence Virtuoso software tools
- Familiarity with semiconductor processing and concepts (e.g., GaAs, GaN, SOI)
- Strong academic background that includes courses in Microwave Engineering, Microwave Systems, Electromagnetic Theory, and Radar Systems
- Strong hands-on experience with microwave testing techniques, including spectrum analyzers, Real-time Spectrum Analyzers (RSAs), Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), and Performance Network Analyzers (PNAs)
- Experience in technical writing, proposal writing, and oral presentations
- Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering

Pay
The salary range for this role is $86,800 – $165,200 USD. The range is a good-faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including the role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
