Senior RF Design Engineer

About the Role

Silvus Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Motorola Solutions, is seeking a Senior RF Design Engineer to join the RF Engineering team in Rancho Bernardo, North San Diego, CA. This 100% onsite role involves designing and developing the RF subsystem for Silvus’ StreamCaster MANET product line, with a focus on keeping mission-critical communications connected for defense, law enforcement, and public safety agencies.

Responsibilities

• Antenna to baseband RF subsystem design using discrete circuitry or highly integrated RFICs, including PLL, LNA, Mixers, and PA.
• Implementing or supervising schematic capture and PCB layout.
• RF performance characterization, tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Overall system design to ensure good EMI performance.
• Ensure circuit board design and overall radio product can pass emission and immunity regulations.
• Troubleshoot RF-related production yield problems.
• Improve design for manufacturability.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelors of Science (or higher) in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of multi-GHz RF hardware development experience.
• Good working knowledge of RF board layout, fabrication, and packaging.
• Hands-on experience with solving EMI, harmonics, spurious, and stability issues.
• Experience using RF simulation tools (i.e., AWR Microwave Office, Altium).
• Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident) due to clients under U.S. federal contracts.
• Successful clearance of a background check and drug test is required.

Working Conditions

• Indoor air-conditioned facility with occasional exposure to heat, cold, and allergens during field tests or demonstrations.
• Physical requirements include lifting up to 20 lbs, bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, and walking in labs.

Pay Range: $140,000 - $190,000 / annually
