Senior Revenue Accountant

Key Job Responsibilities

• Oversee and execute the revenue recognition process, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and internal policies.
• Analyze and interpret complex production and sales data to accurately calculate and record revenue.
• Conduct thorough financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide insights and recommendations for optimizing revenue streams.
• Prepare and present comprehensive revenue reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support audits related to revenue recognition.
• Stay abreast of industry changes and updates in revenue accounting standards, ensuring the organization's practices remain in compliance.
• Work closely with regulatory agencies to address inquiries and maintain accurate reporting.
• Perform regulatory reporting related to production taxes and/or government royalties.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in revenue accounting procedures.
• Collaborate with IT teams to leverage technology for automation and optimization of financial processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in revenue accounting, with at least 3 years in the upstream oil and gas industry.
• Strong understanding of account reconciliations, revenue recognition principles and their application in the upstream oil and gas sector.
• Proficient in using accounting software and ERP systems, with a high level of Excel proficiency.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
