Senior Revenue Accountant

About the role

The Senior Revenue Accountant is a key member of the revenue accounting team responsible for ensuring compliance with US GAAP, specifically ASC 606, across our subscription, services, and usage-based revenue streams with a focus on automation and process improvement. This role focuses on the end-to-end revenue recognition process, including contract review, financial close activities, and technical accounting assessments to support our rapidly scaling business.

Responsibilities

• Work with the team on the integration and optimization of AI and new technologies to automate complex accounting processes, such as accelerating month-end close and automating complex journal entries and reconciliations.
• Develop automated processes and workflows to review contracts for non-standard terms and conditions and determine the revenue impact under ASC 606; for exceptions, execute review and determine the revenue impact.
• Work with the Director of Revenue Accounting and commercial legal team to structure guidelines around acceptable non-standard deal terms.
• Perform monthly and quarterly revenue activities in support of the financial close process, including recognizing revenue, fair value allocations and various account reconciliations.
• Prepare various quarterly and annual revenue assessments including standalone selling price, material right considerations, and others.
• Aid in the preparation of revenue related disclosures and metrics for internal and external reporting.
• Aid with revenue automation projects, process improvements, and AI efficiencies as we continue to scale the business.
• Support external auditors with quarterly revenue testing.
• Assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required and CPA preferred.
• Job responsibilities that have included ASC 606 required.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and AI tools is required, NetSuite and Aptitude/RevStream experience preferred.
• 3+ years of professional experience, ideally with SaaS technology experience from public accounting or industry.
• A self-starter with a high-affinity for identifying and solving problems.
• A strong business acumen and problem-solving ability.
• A highly flexible in adapting to the needs of the team and organization.

Skills

• Strong revenue accounting background and systems-oriented focus.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and AI tools.
• NetSuite and Aptitude/RevStream experience.
• 3+ years of professional experience, ideally with SaaS technology experience from public accounting or industry.
• A self-starter with a high-affinity for identifying and solving problems.

Pay & Benefits

The cash compensation below includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, some roles are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay.
