Why does the job exist?
This is the advanced level of this job family where employees are assigned more advanced responsibility in an assigned work unit or in an assigned geographic area. Employees at this level will have complex assignments and a substantial degree of responsibility and independence in planning, organizing, and completing work. Employees at this level develop and present educational programs relevant to nursing practices, standard care and follow-up with evaluation of learning. This position may include completing special assignments such as quality improvement, mentoring, and surveillance of potential patient care incidents of quality indicators for individuals who may be at risk for rapid status change.
How does it get done?
Provides routine registered nursing care, orientation and training to nursing personnel. Completes nursing history and initial assessment on all patients admitted. May initiate discharge paperwork for planned admissions and ensure clients' belongings are collected. May review and co-sign Orders on all patients.

Customers of Residential Treatment Program a division within New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute.
Ideal Candidate
The job of a Registered Nurse provides ongoing clinical care and oversight for residents with in the Residential Treatment Program, a Division of NMBHI. The responsibilities include, assessing resident health, administering medications and treatments, coordinating care plans, supervising nursing staff and communicating with physicians and the treatment team. The role focuses on continuity of care, patient safety, and the maintenance of residents' overall health, and comfort while receiving care at the residential treatment program.
Minimum Qualification
- Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

- Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers License
- Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate
