About the role

Brown & Brown is seeking a Senior Recreational Marine Facilities Underwriter to manage new business and large renewals, drive profitability, and foster strong relationships within an assigned territory. This niche role targets recreational marinas, boat dealers, boat builders, yacht clubs, and rental boat operations. You will provide leadership and mentorship to the underwriting team, coordinate loss control efforts, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and contribute to product expertise and training.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite new business and large renewal commercial accounts, ensuring alignment with rate, retention, and profit goals.
  • Provide direction and mentorship to teammates (Analysts, Raters, Underwriting Assistants, Junior Underwriters, BOP), delegating tasks and fostering team development.
  • Build and maintain strong agency relationships within your assigned territory, conducting quarterly visits to drive growth and collaboration.
  • Attend and occasionally speak at relevant industry events and educational seminars to gain market intelligence.
  • Ensure policies meet operational and compliance standards by verifying issued policies against quotes, state and carrier regulations, maintaining a 99% accuracy rate.
  • Respond to agent emails and phone calls within one business day to maintain excellent service levels.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for brokers, providing timely and accurate responses related to policies, coverage, billing, and other inquiries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school; or at least ten years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability and desire to continue professional development through industry and/or outside courses to obtain a professional designation.
  • AIMU, CIC, or CPCU designations are preferable.

Pay

$90,000 - $150,000 Annual
