About the role
The Commercial Marine Underwriter evaluates applications for marine insurance, analyzes risks, determines appropriate coverage and premiums, collaborates with brokers, clients, and internal departments to provide tailored insurance solutions for maritime operations.
Responsibilities
- Assess marine related risk including property and liability as it relates to marinas, yacht clubs, and boat dealers.
- Analyze submitted applications, claim history and market conditions to determine insurability.
- Develop risk management strategies and recommend appropriate insurance solutions.
- Collaborate with brokers to understand their needs and provide guidance on coverage options.
- Maintain broker relationships to enhance retention and satisfaction.
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in marine technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, marine studies, or related field.
- Previous experience in commercial marine insurance.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in underwriting software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities.
- Strong knowledge of commercial marine insurance, specifically marinas, yacht clubs, and boat dealers.
Qualifications
