About the Role
The Senior Reconciliation Analyst performs reconciliation of a large number of deposit, loan, and payments assets, liability, income, and expense accounts to the general ledger. This includes several significant accounts such as Loan Control, Loans in Process, Loan Payments in Process, investor accounts, disbursement accounts, Bank operating checking accounts for Lending & Deposit functions, Deposit Control, CD Control, Teller Cash, and ATM reconciliation. The process involves transaction matching (Bank Records vs. system Records) and matching subsystems to general ledger balances using tools like Prologue, Frontier, FIS IBS Core, reports, and spreadsheets.
Responsibilities
- Reconcile and/or oversee the balancing of numerous accounts based on established frequencies, including researching outages using system-generated reports and spreadsheets.
- Correct and/or oversee corrective action daily on errors and stale-dated items.
- Follow up on all reconciling items and provide regular updates on stale-dated items.
- Inform management of outages or balancing delays and escalate as needed.
- Assist operations staff with outages based on interface entries and provide research support.
- Maintain documentation to support files, reports, and data.
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliation reports and file the Doc Stamp remittance for the State of Florida Department of Revenue by required deadlines.
- File prepared accounts in an organized manner and communicate changes to the team and manager.
- Assist the manager in gathering items for internal and external auditors, providing prompt and accurate responses to inquiries.
- Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Provide accounting support for mergers and acquisitions by reviewing financial information and converting data to the general ledger system.
- Protect the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
- Update job knowledge through educational opportunities, professional publications, and networking.
- Support modernization efforts by implementing changes to policies, procedures, and automation tools.
- Develop and maintain broad knowledge of Bank products, services, and industry trends.
- Ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and procedures related to transaction processing.
- Adhere to AML/BSA requirements, operational procedures, audit procedures, and other regulated banking requirements.
- Create, maintain, review, and adhere to bank operational procedures and controls.
- Follow instructions and respond to management direction to resolve out-of-balance events and mitigate loss.
- Perform all other related duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, treasury, or banking, with an emphasis on loan accounting, financial controls, and systems.
- Knowledge of banking functions and operations.
- Understanding of the bank reconciliation process, reports, controls, and segregation of duties.
- Ability to analyze differences, perform investigations, and summarize results for reconciling items.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently, handle sensitive information, and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work as part of a team and solve problems under stressful conditions.
- Flexible schedule with availability during operational hours, including weekends and occasional non-bank hours.
