SENIOR PSM COORDINATOR WRANGELL SHOREPLANT
About the role
The Senior PSM Coordinator at WRANGELL SHOREPLANT is responsible for overseeing the implementation and coordination of PSM, RMP, and CAA 608 programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining the integrity of industrial refrigerant systems. This position reports to the Division Manager of Refrigeration Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Implements PSM programs and ensures regulatory requirements are met.
- Supports PSM Plan Managers in Regions/Plants they are assigned.
- Attends and participates in regular meetings with PSM stakeholders.
- Implements corporate programs and systems to drive consistency while aligning with laws and regulations.
- Maintains a working knowledge of PSM (14 elements), RMP, CAA 608, and relevant state and federal rules.
- Conducts audits and inspections of plant performance and activities.
- Ensures proper and timely completion of corrective actions resulting from audits and inspections.
- Coordinates with Plan Managers in PSM and RMP program activities, including management of change, pre-startup safety reviews, and process hazard analyses.
- Promotes a process safety culture and drives improvements in PSM/RMP programs.
- Assists on corporate PSM/RMP audits as needed.
- Supports OSHA and EPA audits of PSM and RMP programs, and other regulatory audits of refrigeration systems.
- Provides direction to Corporate Risk Management, Engineering, Maintenance, and contractors for refrigeration and related projects/modifications.
- Defines and prioritizes site programs to meet regulatory compliance, risk analysis recommendations, corporate policies, site-specific procedures, and audit findings.
- Assists plant staff in prioritizing action items to address gaps.
- Manages shortages of PSM personnel and covers affected regions as necessary.
- Maintains 5-year MI and NDE schedules for all Alaska Base facilities, working with PSM Plan Managers for audits and follow-up items.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 4 years of experience leading and coordinating PSM and RMP activities.
- A degree (A.A.) or equivalent in a technical field.
- Food Processing background (Maintenance or Production) preferred.
- Knowledgeable of the PSM Standard and RMP rule and able to lead associated activities at the facility and asset level.
- Formal training in facilitating HAZWOP and What-if/Checklist PHAs preferred; or willingness to complete such training.
- Formal training in MI Inspections preferred; or willingness to complete such training.
Training and Skills
- Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Present information in one-on-one situations to supervisors and other employees of the organization.
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Use design software, word processing, and spreadsheets.
Work Environment
- Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
Physical Demands
- Regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
